Steam Powered Knights

While looking on Steam yesterday, I saw that LucasArts has *finally* made available the original  Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic in the Steam store.  And as a reasonable price of $10, no less.  Even though I still have my beloved KotOR disks sitting upon my shelf, I was happy to see the game on Steam.  :-)

Too bad that as of this writing, the old widescreen hacks from the retail version don’t work on the Steam version from what I hear.  Hopefully, that will change soon.  Still, other than that, it seems a pretty solid deal.

Also freshly released on steam, with a hearty AMEN, is the Jedi Knight series, including the original Dark Forces. Can I get a hell yeah?

I saw that the day it happened and never got around to updating the article (well, no reason to, really, since the post was solely about KotOR anyways).

But I agree, it is awesome to see the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games on Steam as well (and you can get them all for $20 the last time I looked). Now we just need KotOR II to be put up on there. Maybe some older games too, like TIE Fighter (and the others like it), Rogue Squadron 3D, Shadows of the Empire, etc. …so long as they’re updated to work properly on modern versions of Windows and hardware (I recently tested SotE and while it played decently, all of the in-game text was borked).

I’m also hoping The Force Unleashed gets released on Steam when it comes out in November…
